Gorgeous Engagement Session at Cherokee Park, Big Rock Park, and the Heigold Facade in Louisville, KY

Kate and Jacob’s engagement session was in Louisville, Kentucky at the beautiful Cherokee Park. The park is absolutely gorgeous filled with trails, forests, creeks, rock walls and bridges. We had so much fun exploring the park with Kate and Jacob while dreaming about their wedding day. Kate and Jacob both currently live in the St. Louis area but are doing a destination wedding at Lost River Cave in Bowling Green, Kentucky. It is known for it’s blue underground river that flows into the cave which is where it gets it’s name. It is definitely a one of a kind venue and a very special place to get married at. After we spent some time in Cherokee Park we headed to Big Rock Park that has a beautiful creek in the middle of a forest surrounded by cliff faces. We ended our adventure at the historic Facade near downtown Louisville, KY.

In June of 2014 Jacob visited his college friend Brian who is from Kate’s hometown. They stopped at a local restaurant where Kate was working. The next night Kate went to a bar to meet some friends and ran into Brian and Jacob. They start chatting and at one point Jacob was complaining that Brian drives everywhere and that he likes to walk. Jacob said he hadn’t had a chance to do even a little walking since he arrived. So Kate offered to show Jacob the house she had just bought that was under construction. They walked 6 blocks to reach the house. Kate didn’t even have a key yet but was still so excited to show Jacob the house. So they stood outside admiring the house and Jacob gave her a kiss. They walked back downtown and exchanged numbers.

Kate hadn’t planned to text Jacob but she saw a “Humans of New York” book and couldn’t resist randomly texting Jacob about it. They continued to text back and forth for months until Kate went to visit Jacob in October. They stayed in Manhattan that weekend and went out to dinner with Jacob’s sister and brother in law. Kate and Jacob continued to visit each other back and forth from Long Island to Belleville every other month and then more frequently.

In December of 2016 Kate and Jacob went to southern Illinois to stay in a cabin for a few days to go hiking. Kate became ill so they decided to try again in December of 2017. It was freezing outside but Kate agreed to bundle up and go on a hike with Jacob. Kate was complaining about the cold but Jacob kept leading Kate down several trails until they started talking about saving for a wedding someday. Kate then turned around to see Jacob down on one knee. Kate didn’t say anything because she was so surprised. She eventually of course said, YES! We had so much fun exploring Louisville and celebrating Kate and Jacob’s engagement. They are both so sweet and we have loved getting to know them. We are so excited for their special day next summer. Check back next year to see the rest of their love story unfold.
