Diana and Doug’s engagement session was at Ashland The Henry Clay Estate in downtown Lexington, Kentucky. I (Anna) was so excited when Diana contacted me about photographing her wedding since we used to work together. It was so fun catching up with her and getting to know Doug. We walked the beautiful grounds of Ashland, celebrating their engagement and hearing all about their love story.
Diana and Doug first met in high school. Doug’s brother was one of Diana’s best friends, so they all ran together. They’ve known each other most of their lives. However, life took Diana and Doug in different directions for many years. Thirty years later, they reconnected at a mutual friend’s birthday party. It took Doug 5 months after that to ask Diana out. Their first date was on a Sunday. They had brunch at Saul Good, and both ordered the big breakfast! Together Diana and Doug love to travel, and Doug is a history buff. One of their favorite places to visit is Savannah and Tybee Island. Best of both worlds…history and the beach, which makes Diana happy. They also enjoy taking evening walks and going out to dinner on Friday nights.
Doug knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Diana. So he took Diana to Christmas at Biltmore in Ashville, NC, and proposed on her Mother’s birthday. Doing this was very special to Diana since her Mother has been gone for many years. It made her feel like her Mother was a part of the day. Doug proposed at the “Diana” statue on the hill overlooking the Biltmore. We are so happy for Diana and Doug and can’t wait to celebrate their wedding with them this fall. Stay tuned for their wedding day love story.
