Emily and Jeremiah were married on a beautiful summer day at the Barn at Cedar Grove in Greensburg, Kentucky. Emily looked stunning in her lace wedding dress and cathedral veil. Her bridesmaids wore long, mismatched green dresses, and their bouquets were filled with white flowers and greenery. Jeremiah and his groomsmen looked handsome in their grey suits. Emily and Jeremiah’s outdoor ceremony was under a canopy of trees with the cutest little chapel frame. Their reception followed shortly after in the Barn at Cedar Grove, lit with a beautiful chandelier. The long wooden tables were decorated with white flowers, greenery, candles, and gold accents. Emily and Jeremiah love music, so they had a jazz trio play the night away while they mingled with their guests. At the end of the night, everyone celebrated Emily and Jeremiah with a romantic sparkler exit. We are so happy for Emily and Jeremiah and have loved getting to know them this past year and capturing this part of their love story.
Emily and Jeremiah first met through their love of music. Even though they had seen each other at several honor bands throughout middle and high school, they first met the summer before their senior year at Governor’s School for the Arts (GSA), a 3-week summer program in Kentucky for instruction in various art forms. Emily plays the clarinet, and Jeremiah plays the saxophone. They quickly became a part of the same friend group and started spending all of their free time together. When Emily and Jeremiah had a 2-hour bus ride to and from the University of Louisville Speed Art Museum, they talked the entire time (even when everyone had fallen asleep). They discovered how much they had in common. By the end of the program, Emily and Jeremiah set up their first date.
Emily is from Lexington, and Jeremiah is from Louisville, so there was about an hour of distance between them. Their first date was in Louisville because Jeremiah didn’t have a car. They saw a movie and walked around several nearby shops. Then, Emily drove Jeremiah back to his house, and he gave her some jazz CDs to listen to on her drive home as a clever way to ensure her return.
After 3.5 years of dating, Emily and Jeremiah discussed getting engaged. Still, Emily thought the proposal would happen later, so she didn’t expect a thing when they had tickets to see Michael Buble in Cincinnati. Jeremiah didn’t propose that evening, but the next day, they went to the Zoo (where they went on their second date) and then walked around Eden Park, which has a beautiful overlook of the city. They stopped to admire the view, and when Emily turned around, Jeremiah was down on one knee! Afterward, they went out to eat and celebrate with their family. The ring belonged to Emily’s grandmother. Jeremiah got it from Emily’s mom. We are so happy for Emily and Jeremiah and wish them a lifetime of love, happiness, and adventure.
