Outdoor Summer Wedding on a Horse Farm in Paris, Kentucky

It was such an honor to capture Kelly and Miller’s wedding! Kelly is Kevin’s sister, and we could not be happier for them. They are the sweetest and perfect match for each other. Kelly and Miller were married on a beautiful horse farm in Paris, Kentucky, called Sunnyside Farm, which is Miller’s family farm. Kelly wore her grandmother’s wedding dress which her mother and several aunts also wore. Three generations have worn the dress, and it is just beautiful with its long sleeves, off-the-shoulder and intricate lace. Kelly’s bouquet and other florals were created by Miller’s aunt. We loved all the romantic pink and white flowers with greenery that were chosen. Their ceremony was outside under a large tree overlooking the horse fields. Their reception followed outside in the backyard. The tables were set up in a square so that everyone could see and interact with each other. Each family was given a book of special poems and a handmade candle. Everyone enjoyed the evening next to the fire, playing cornhole and taking in the gorgeous sunset. Kelly and Miller finished the evening with a romantic sparkler exit send-off. We loved getting to capture their wedding day love story.

Kelly and Miller first met in 2015 at Festival of the Bluegrass, a bluegrass music festival at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, on an early summer night in June. Kelly had returned to her family home in Lexington after traveling, and Miller had returned to his family home for summer break from Veterinary School. The first words Miller ever said to Kelly were… “lighting is very important”, intuitively placing his emphasis on LIGHT. Before parting ways that night, Kelly gave Miller a small essential oil fragrance bottle from her purse, which she called a “bottle of Love”, placing her emphasis intuitively on LOVE. Kelly and Miller both returned to the festival the next evening, both immediately intrigued by the other’s warmhearted presence. At the end of that second night, Miller asked for Kelly’s phone number and so began an eight-year journey toward this, their own ‘Country of Marriage’ and their continuing exploration of LIGHT and LOVE.

Miller proposed to Kelly on November 12 th, 2022, along the Appalachian trail in Pisgah National Forest in Newland, North Carolina, about a 2-hour drive from where they live in Tryon. Miller had planned a day hike and weekend getaway to a beautiful rustic mountain cabin that weekend. He guided Kelly up Little Hump Mountain just as the weather was shifting and a cold front neared the area. Huddled together and sheltered from the wind by a large boulder, Miller made two cups of hot tea and handed Kelly her journal. On the first blank page, across from Kelly’s last entry, Miller had colored the words to a song he had written: “If ever written was a lover like you. If ever love fit in words. I do.” He slipped a small ring, inlaid with a moldavite stone, onto her finger, and with the biggest smile, she said YES!! We are so happy for Kelly and Miller and wish them a lifetime of love, happiness, and adventure. Congratulations, you two!
