Late Fall Engagement Session at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky

Carissa and Ethan’s engagement session was at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. It was a little chilly, but they had the most beautiful sunset to celebrate their engagement. Buffalo Trace is a unique and historic distillery with so many interesting and cool places to take photos. We loved adventuring around the grounds getting to know Carissa and Ethan, and hearing all about their love story!

Carissa and Ethan met when they both went to graduate school together in the same program at the University of Illinois. They were also Graduate Assistants in their recreation department. For their first date, Carissa and Ethan spent a day in St. Louis together. They started the day off by attending a women’s volleyball game at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Then they went to Union Station, where Carissa and Ethan played putt-putt and did a mirror maze. Together Carissa and Ethan love going to football games, checking out new breweries, and spending time with their cat!

Ethan knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Carissa. They spent the morning at the National Mall in DC with their two best friends, looking at all the monuments. Toward the end of the morning, they all walked over to the Tidal Bason to get a good view of the Jefferson Memorial (Carissa’s favorite monument). Their friend suggested taking a picture of the two of them in front of the memorial. They did, and then Ethan turned to Carissa and said, “I love you so much. I’ve been wanting to ask you this question for a while now,” and then he dropped down on one knee and asked her to marry him! She, of course, said yes! Carissa and Ethan are excited to get married in such a beautiful state in between their two families next year in Kentucky. We can’t wait to celebrate with them next year and capture their wedding day love story!
