Winter Engagement Session at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, KY

We had so much fun celebrating Emily and Paige’s engagement session at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. Their love for the distillery made it the perfect place to take their engagement photos. We loved adventuring through the historic distillery getting to know Emily and Paige and hearing all about their love story.

Emily and Paige first met online through a dating app. They had both been through the ups and downs of the dating scene, and nothing had seemed to work out. Emily first messaged Paige. After a quick hello, Paige quickly fired back with three questions that were important to her before she started a relationship. She wasn’t messing around with anyone this time, so she waited to see the response that she would get from Emily. Nevertheless, Emily was not scared away and responded with answers to the three questions. They started texting nonstop for the next several days and started to hit things off. Later that week, Emily and Paige went on their first date to one of the local Mexican restaurants in Georgetown. (Emily was so nervous that she dropped her phone within the first 2 seconds of them meeting). They didn’t eat much that night at dinner because they were so busy talking and getting to know each other more. After dinner, Emily and Paige decided to go to Dairy Queen to get some ice cream. They sat in the car and ate their ice cream while asking each other random questions, and bonded over their love for country music. It was very apparent that neither of them wanted the night to end, so they knew they were onto something special from the start. Emily and Paige quickly made plans the next week for an adventure to Gatlinburg, and from there, they’ve pretty much been inseparable ever since.

Emily and Paige love to adventure together and do anything new and fun they can. If there’s a thrill factor, that’s a bonus. For example, they love to go zip lining, and they’ve also been snorkeling in caves in Mexico. Emily and Paige also love going on trips to new states, sporting events, concerts, new restaurants, or playing a new game together. Whatever it might be, they always try to experience new things together. Traveling, though, has been one of the biggest things that Emily and Paige have done together. They’ve been to Gatlinburg a handful of times, Asheville, NC, Las Vegas, Mexico, Nashville, Michigan, Arizona, and some other cities in between. When Emily and Paige are in town together and have time to relax, they like to go kayaking or fishing during the summer. If Paige is not busy with school, then they work on different Disney puzzles together, binge-watch their favorite TV shows, or play video games. Emily and Paige are each other’s best friends and try to do everything together.

Paige went to Emily’s parents and asked for their blessing before she proposed. Next, she got the ring and couldn’t stand not being able to tell Emily about it. So it became really hard for Paige to keep the secret for so long. Paige planned a day for them to go kayaking since it was something they loved to do together. She also knew that it would be a different proposal and would catch Emily off guard. Paige had no idea where to propose because it was a new place, and she had no idea what it looked like. So, they got into the kayaks and just started going downstream, seeing where they would end up. The only spot that resonated with Paige was this shaded area that had a waterfall coming out of the rocks. They pulled over to the rocks, and Paige first pulled out a card that she had written that was in the backpack she brought. After Emily read the card, Paige pulled out the ring and asked her to marry her. She said yes, thankfully, and they continued to paddle around some more. Emily wouldn’t stop talking about how shiny her ring looked out in the sunlight, so that paused them every few yards up the river. They eventually just stopped under a bridge and couldn’t wait to tell people, so Emily and Paige started calling people to tell them that they were engaged. Emily and Paige both bought their rings at Kay Jewelers, but at separate times. They each went with friends to pick out some rings as options, and they put it on a wish list. For example, when Paige went to go pick out Emily’s ring, they showed her all of the rings that were on her wish list but didn’t tell her any information about them. When Paige finally picked the ring that she thought Emily would like the most, the sales associate told her that she had picked Emily’s number one pick. So, Paige was still able to try to find the right ring!
