Mimi and Andy’s wedding was in downtown Lexington, Kentucky. Mimi looked stunning in her ruffled lace dress and a sweetheart top. Her girls wore long bridesmaid dresses, and their bouquets were filled with white and blush flowers. Andy and his groomsmen looked dapper in their navy suits and blush ties. Mimi and Andy shared a romantic first look at the historic Gratz Park in downtown, Lexington. We explored the rest of the park with their bridal party taking photos at some beautiful gardens and colorful homes. Their ceremony was at the Downtown First United Methodist Church, and their reception followed at the Carrick House. The tables were dressed in grey tablecloths and decorated with floral centerpieces and candles. Mimi and Andy danced the night away surrounded by their sweet friends and family. We have loved getting to know Andy and Mimi this year. It has been such an honor to capture their wedding love story.
Andy and Mimi’s love story first began when they met six years ago at a local hospital. They had just started their medical residencies. Andy’s residency was in medical, and Mimi’s was in pharmacy. They met again on April 1st, 2017, an overcast, 40 degrees, drizzly day after running 13.1 miles through hilly horse farms at the Run the Bluegrass Half Marathon. Out of approximately 5,000 runners, Andy recognized Mimi after she had crossed the finish line. After a 45 minute freezing cold conversation, Andy asked Mimi to brunch, and she happily agreed.
Andy proposed at Lockbox at 21c Museum Hotel. They enjoyed a lovely dinner and Mimi (much to Andy’s delight) suggested they wander around the galleries at 21c, just as they had done on their second date. As the strolled around the second floor, Mimi noticed that a few of the gallery doors were closed. She mentioned this to Andy, who walked towards one of the closed doors to open it. Mimi, not one for breaking the rules, stopped him — what if that gallery was reserved for a special reason?! They shouldn’t interrupt. Andy opened the door and ushered Mimi in despite her protesting. Inside, she saw a room full of candles, a bottle of champagne, and desserts, and she immediately tried to retreat. Andy guided her back into the room, and she turned to look back at him and saw a wall full of framed photos of them, their families, and their dog Pipster. Tears fell immediately when she realized the special room was for them. Andy proposed and it was the easiest question Mimi has ever had to answer. Mimi and Andy are so perfect for each other. We want to wish them a lifetime of love, happiness, and adventure. A big shoutout to all of the amazing wedding vendors who helped make their day so special.
