Red River Gorge Engagement Photos at the Nada Tunnel and Sky Bridge

Kari and Kevin’s engagement photos were taken in the Red River Gorge in Kentucky. Their love for fun and adventure made it the perfect place for Kari and Kevin to celebrate their engagement. They brought along their two precious pups April and Lexi for some fun hikes in the gorge. We started at the famous Nada Tunnel and took some epic shots. Next, we walked through the forest where Lexi and April got some sweet cuddles. We finished their session at Sky Bridge which has a breathtaking arch and beautiful cliff line overlooking the gorge for sunset. We had so much fun getting to know Kari and Kevin and hearing all about their love story. We can’t wait to capture their wedding day next year at Buffalo Trace Distillery.

Kari and Kevin first met through a mutual friend. They became friends and thought to themselves that they “could never date” since they were too much alike. They have a similar sense of humor that has them always making fun of each other and laughing at themselves. They started to become best friends and couldn’t get enough of each other. Kari also thought that Kevin was the most thoughtful and romantic man on the planet. One day Kari had a girlfriend visiting her from out of state on November 16, 2016. They went out to happy hour with friends and stayed out later than intended because they were having so much fun. Together Kari and Kevin joke that it was the happy hour that never ended because from there on they were doing everything together. Kari and Kevin are both big kids who love to travel and get excited about seeing or doing anything new. They love the beach and being on the water. Together they love playing sports including volleyball and kickball with a local league. Kari and Kevin enjoy hosting parties and being around people. They can’t get enough of live music and try to go to every show they can. Kari and Kevin are both big animal lovers and love to travel with their sweet dogs.

On August 12, 2018, Kari and Kevin went to Red Rock Amphitheater to see one of Kari’s favorite artists, Brandi Carlile. Kari had traveled to see her perform all over the country for the past 5 years. In April of 2017 Kevin went with her. That trip he had told her that he loved her for the first time. So in November of 2018 they bought tickets for her Red Rocks show. He fell in love with her as an artist and knew that he wanted to propose to Kari at one of her concerts. Kevin had handwritten a two-page letter to Brandi and had called Kari’s father to ask permission to marry her. He somehow snuck the ring out to Colorado and into Red Rock without Kari catching on. While Kari slipped out to use the restroom Kevin told everyone around him that he was going to propose. So he had lots of people ready to take photos and videos of the special moment. Brandi started playing Kari’s favorite song, The Story, when Kevin got down on one knee. Kari, of course, said, YES! After the concert, their Airbnb picked them up with a bottle of champagne, glasses and a rose. It was the perfect proposal and everything Kari could have ever wanted. Kari’s parents had mailed her grandmother’s diamond to a local jewelry store and placed it in a setting that Kari had shown Kevin and loved. Their song, The Story, by Brandi Carlile, will play at their wedding next year at Buffalo Trace! Buffalo Trace has always been Kari’s favorite distillery and favorite brands of bourbon. Together Kevin and Kari love to collect bourbon. It will be the most perfect place to watch these two sweethearts tie the knot. We can’t wait to celebrate with them and capture their wedding day love story!
