Alison and Jarrod’s Spring Engagement Session at Shaker Village

Alison and Jarrod’s engagement session was at Shaker Village in Harrodsburg, Kentucky on a beautiful spring day. The trees were full and green again after a long winter. The sunset that evening was gorgeous making their session so romantic. There were so many perfect places to take photos from country roads, white fences, old historic houses, and rolling hills. It was the perfect place to explore and celebrate their engagement. We loved getting to know Alison and Jarrod and hearing all about their love story.

Alison and Jarrod both attended the University of Kentucky. Their first conversation was outside of class in April of their junior year. They were waiting to go inside when Jarrod who was standing next to her said, “did you hear about the loose cow on campus?” Alison had no idea what he was talking about and said, “no…” thinking why is this guy talking to me about cows? So for the rest of the year, she referred to Jarrod as “cow boy” until they met again as fellow interns at the same company. Alison and Jarrod quickly became friends and he asked her out with about two weeks left of their internship. Their first date was to a Lexington Legends baseball game. However, it rained so the game kept getting pushed back until it was eventually canceled. They improvised by getting ice cream instead.

Jarrod knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Alison. So what better way to propose than to go back to where it all first began. Jarrod told Alison that they were going on a date but that it was a surprise. She asked what she should wear and he told her jeans and a blue top. She figured it had to be something UK or Lexington Legends because it was so oddly specific. They pulled into the Legend’s Stadium and Jarrod says, “I splurged and got VIP parking!” Alison thought that was odd because he normally doesn’t splurge on that stuff, but Alison was definitely fine with it. Jarrod walked up to will call and the guys asked what suite it was. Alison was shocked that it was a suite! She started to figure out that something might be up. When they arrived at the suite Alison walked in to see pictures of them hanging on the wall and the room was all decorated. There was also a baseball bat that was engraved with the words, “WILL YOU MARRY ME?” Alison turned around to see that Jarrod was down on one knee. It was so sweet. Alsion was overjoyed and was so surprised to see all of her family and friends walk in. Jarrod had arranged for all of them to be there. It was the most perfect proposal ever. Alison’s best friends had come earlier to set everything up. It was also perfect because it was “put a ring on it” night at the game and they were giving out replica championship rings. What a coincidence! Alison’s ring was extra special though because Jarrod had taken the diamond from Alison’s Nana’s ring. Jarrod sure hit his proposal out of the park! We are so excited to share some of our favorite photos from their engagement session.
