Amy and Brett’s engagement session was at Keeneland Racecourse in Lexington, Kentucky. It was the perfect place to celebrate their engagement because it is where they first met and where Brett proposed. The fall colors were absolutely stunning with the long row of trees with glowing orange leaves. We had so much fun exploring the beautiful landscapes surrounding Keeneland and hearing all about their love story. Amy and Brett met at their best friend’s wedding at Keeneland five years ago. He was the best man and she was the maid of honor. They didn’t have a spark immediately but they did enjoy talking with each other that day. That same year in October their friends Shawna and Liz arranged a double date between them in Louisville. Amy had no idea it was a double date until halfway through the evening. They went out to dinner and then to a haunted house where Brett tried to hold Amy’s hand and act scared. They both stayed the night at their friend’s house that evening. After their friends went to bed. Amy and Brett stayed up talking and Brett made the first move and gave Amy a kiss. Their first official date was dinner at Nick Ryan’s in Lexington, Kentucky and then to see a movie. Last year they built their first home together and have had a lot of fun designing and picking out everything they wanted for it. They have had fun working on projects around their house and watching movies at home on the couch. Amy and Brett like to go hiking, kayaking, tailgating with their friends to Keeneland and attend UK football games.
Brett knew that he wanted to spend forever with Amy. This December they will have been together for 4 years. One day Amy and Brett were on their way to meet Shawn and Liz to go to Disney World. Brett told Amy that the morning of he wanted to stop at Keeneland if they had time because they were supposed to be working the horses out on the track. He had always wanted to go but had never had the chance. Amy told him no because they only had 25 minutes to get to the airport before their plane boarded. Brett decided to stop anyway which made Amy mad because she was scared they would miss their flight. When they arrived at the gate there were no horses out on the track. Amy turned around to say something to Brett when she found him down on one knee. He told her that he wanted to ask her at Keeneland because it meant a lot to them and he wanted it to just be the two of them. She, of course, said yes and then they rushed off to the airport and had an amazing vacation. We are so excited to celebrate with Amy and Brett next year at the Griffen Gate Marriott.
