Countryside Fall Engagement Session at Shaker Village in Harrodsburg, KY

Sarah and Craig’s engagement session was at Shaker Village in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. It was a gorgeous day filled with a beautiful sunset and colorful fall leaves. We had so much fun exploring Shaker Village with it’s romantic historic houses, stone fences, rolling fields, and nature. Sarah and Craig are so perfect for each other and are so in love. We loved hearing all about their love story and can’t wait to capture their special day early next year in the Red River Gorge. Sarah and Craig were set up by mutual friends. Sarah’s classmate was dating Craig’s roommate and thought they would be a good fit since they had mutual interests like triathlons and global missions. They first met at a mutual friend’s engagement party. The talked for a while and seemed to get along well. A few days later Craig reached out to meet up so they could get to know each other more. Their first date was going out for ice cream. They enjoyed being with each other so much that they kept talking long after the ice cream was gone. It started to become clear from the beginning to both of them that this could be something special and they began to dream about their future together. Sarah knee-deep in some of her hardest months of medical school. Craig had recently returned from living abroad for a couple of years and was simultaneously adjusting to being back in the states to start grad school. It seemed like neither of them were looking when they met and now it’s unimaginable that they could ever not be together for the rest of their adventure.

For their third date, they climbed up Cloudsplitter which is an unmarked beautiful trail that overlooks the Red River Gorge. They both loved to go out to the gorge and run the trails so it seemed natural when Craig suggested they spend Labor Day in the gorge. When they got to the top of Cloudsplitter Craig started to act a little strange looking for “a place to sit down.” Eventually, they sat and talked for a while and he then pulled a box out of his pocket. He said all sorts of sweet things and then asked Sarah to marry him. After a minute Sarah realized a group of their friends was behind them taking pictures. Craig had asked them to come along and bring a picnic and photograph the moment. Unfortunately, their friends had gotten lost and missed the proposal. Craig was trying to stall but went ahead and asked Sarah to marry him. The Red River Gorge will always hold a special place in their hearts so they decided that it would be the perfect place for them to get married next March. We are so excited to share some of our favorite photos from their engagement session.
