May Engagement Session at Keeneland Racecourse in Lexington, KY

Jon and Lauren’s engagement session was at the beautiful Keeneland Racetrack in Lexington, Kentucky. Keeneland is a very special place to Lauren and Jon because it is where Jon proposed. So what better way to celebrate their engagement than to go back to their special place. It was a gorgeous sunny day and all the grounds were simply stunning. We had so much fun walking around Keeneland and hearing all about their love story.

Jon and Lauren met while they were both attending graduate school in Nashville, TN. They started out just friends studying a lot together. They began to realize that they had a lot in common. They bonded over their love for their favorite musician (Ben Rector) and they both enjoyed just how easy it was to talk with each other. After knowing each other for a few months Lauren felt as if she had known Jon her whole life. Lauren was a little nervous about dating a classmate for fear of it not working out. Jon still continues to give Lauren a hard time about her response when he first asked her out. Jon decided he wanted to be more than friends and asked Lauren out to dinner to which she replied, “We can try that.” So for their actual first date, they went to Franklin, TN. It is a small town outside of Nashville that Lauren had been trying to get some of her friends to go and explore. When Jon arrived he almost went to the wrong address because Lauren not knowing gave him the wrong apartment. Luckily her roommate saved the day by letting Lauren know that he might need to give Jon new directions. When Jon arrived Lauren asked where they were going. He told her it was a secret. They ended up in Franklin on a beautiful October night and went out to a pizza place which is Lauren’s favorite.

Jon knew that he wanted to propose to Lauren. So he originally decided that he would visit Lexington and propose on December 22, 2018. Their plan was to go to dinner that night with Lauren’s best friend and her husband. Unfortunately, Lauren woke up that morning in agonizing pain and spent the majority of the day in the ER with a kidney stone. Luckily Jon was able to move his plans until the next day. He told Lauren he wanted to stop by the Keeneland gift shop to pick up a Christmas gift for his brother before they went to lunch. Jon knew the paddock area was one of Lauren’s favorite places. When they arrived Lauren found a table with their favorite photo together. Jon got down on one knee and asked Lauren to marry him. Of course, she said YES! We can’t wait to celebrate their special day with them this summer at Spindletop Hall. Check back later this summer to see the rest of their love story unfold.
