Epic Copperas Falls Red River Gorge Engagement Session

Kellie has been a long time friend of mine (Anna). Climbing and the great outdoors is a passion that we both share. I was so happy to find out she found the perfect guy for her. He not only sweeps her off her feet but also loves to share adventures with her. Steve is her perfect match and we could not be any happier for them! When she told us she wanted to do something fun and epic in the Red River Gorge we started to think about Copperas Falls. It had been a place we had always wanted to shoot at and Kellie and Steve were up for the 4-mile round trip adventure. Big shout out to Wilkinson Visual for guiding us and showing us the way to Copperas Falls. The trail may be one of our new favorite trails in the Red River Gorge. There are so many breathtaking views that allow you to cross the creek which eventually brings you to the gorgeous falls. It was so special just to see how happy these two make each other.

Steve and Kellie first met climbing in the Red River Gorge at Bruise Brothers in Muir Valley. They kept in touch for a number of years just as friends. Steve lived in Michigan and Kellie lived in Kentucky. Kellie had always thought about Steve from time to time and had a special place in her heart for him over the years. Steve is a firefighter and one day while Kellie was climbing she found a toy firefighter someone had placed at the top of a climbing route. It made her think of Steve and she wondered if it was a sign of things to come. It turned out that Steve decided to move to Louisville to join the Louisville Fire Department. Once he moved to Kentucky they started to reconnect. Steve took Kellie out for their first date to climb in the gorge. They climbed with their friends Paul, Amy, and John all day. Steve bought Kellie an Ale8 which she still has today along with the toy firefighter.

As their relationship grew they became the best of friends and Steve knew he wanted to ask Kellie to marry him. The perfect opportunity came when they went on a tropical cruise with some of their friends. On a formal night while they were getting their photos taken their friends disappeared out of the picture. Kellie turned around to see Steve down on one knee. She, of course, said, yes! We are so thankful to have these awesome friends in our life and we can’t wait to capture and celebrate their special day this fall at Events at Hemlock Springs in the Red River Gorge. Be sure to check back in October to see the rest of their love story unfold.
