You could say that that stars perfectly aligned when Matt and Mariah met. Everything surrounding their relationship from their first kiss under a meteor shower to their proposal on the day of the 2017 Solar Eclipse. So it was perfectly fitting to have their wedding on April 8, 2018 with the next Solar Eclipse happening on April, 8 2024. Three years ago Matt discovered that the Solar Eclipse would be happening nearby on August 21, 2017. Matt knew that it was when he wanted to propose to Mariah. So they planned a trip to Clarksville, TN which was in the line of totality for the eclipse. It was also where they had taken their first road trip together to pick up Mariah’s family pet during their first couple weeks of dating. They rented an Air BnB in Clarksville to get the best view of the eclipse. Matt was so excited as he planned the trip but Mariah had no idea just how special it was going to be. They made a shadow box to use before totality. Matt slipped a piece of paper inside saying, “Mariah Dawn Adkins, Will You Marry Me?” Matt asked Mariah to look into the box right before totality. As she looked down she started to tear up and turned around to find Matt down on one knee. He asked her to marry him to which she, of course, said yes! A minute later everything went dark and they took in the full eclipse together. It was the most magical proposal full of excitement, thoughtfulness.
Matt and Mariah’s wedding took place at Ashford Acres Inn in Cynthiana, Kentucky. This gorgeous venue is a large white historic house that sits in the heart of the country. Inside it is filled with charming antiques. Mariah looked gorgeous in her blush wedding dress. The top was filled with lace, a crystal belt, and a tulle skirt. All her girls wore long lavender dresses. Their bouquets were filled with white and cream roses, greenery, and an assortment of pink and purple flowers. Matt and his guys looked dapper in their grey tuxes and purple ties. Matt and Mariah shared a first look under the back porch of the Inn. After taking each other in they were soon greeted by their sweet Corgi Beans who looked dashing in his tux and bowtie.
The ceremony was on the front lawn with the gorgeous Ashford Acres Inn as the background. They chose to do a unique dye ceremony where they mixed blue (Matt) and red (Mariah) to symbolize their families becoming one to make purple. As Matt and Mariah exited their guest threw rose petals in the air to celebrate their special day. The reception was held out back in a beautiful clear tent. Inside the clear tent were tables decorated with white table cloths and lavender. Their family and friends danced the night away celebrating the sweet couple. At the end of the night Matt and Mariah exited their reception with sparklers.
