5 Tips To Help You Decide Where To Get Ready On Your Wedding Day

The morning a bride wakes up she realizes that this is the day she has been dreaming of for quite some time. It’s finally here and the fun is about to begin. The last thing a bride should be worried about is the last minute details. All of that should be taken care of and her pampering should begin. When we arrive on a wedding day the first thing we do is give the bride a big hug and start snapping photos of all her details. In order to make your photos look amazing on your wedding day here are some tips that we give our brides so that they are prepared when we get there and we can just start capturing all those special moments and details. Here are 5 tips for your choosing and prepping the room you will get ready in.

WINDOW LIGHT

One of the simplest yet beautiful ways to create breathtaking photos is to use window light. Window light provides soft natural light. Make sure the room you are getting ready in has large windows so that natural light can fill the room. This makes for stunning bridal portraits and getting ready photos. A clean wall and a little bit of window light can literally change the way a room looks through the camera.

THINK AHEAD ABOUT YOUR GETTING READY ROOM

Make sure to scout out the room you will be getting ready in before the big day. Just because a venue provides you with a room to get ready in doesn’t mean it’s the best fit. Especially if it’s a classroom at a church or has ugly carpet. Nobody wants that in their photos! If you have no other option make sure to look for other locations at the venue that can work as a substitute. Rooms that are free of distractions and do not contain a lot of clutter usually work best. If you do not have any good options at your venue you can always use a suite at a hotel or rent out a bed and breakfast. The 21c Museum Hotel in Lexington, KY is one of our favorite places for brides to get ready at. All of the photos in this blog were taken at 21c. If you need help choosing a room or need any suggestions just let us know.

CLEAN UP THE ROOM

This is something simple yet effective and will make a world of difference in your photos. When your getting ready room is cluttered it leaves a limited amount of space for your photographer to shoot. Nobody wants to see clothes on floor or food in their photos. It also wastes time if the photographer has to move items to create the best background. We don’t want to miss any special moments and this helps to make sure that doesn’t happen.

DETAILS

When we arrive make sure you have your bouquet, shoes, jewelry, and rings all together. This is a great time saver when it comes to getting photos of your details that you spent so much time picking out. When we arrive on the wedding day this is the first thing we shoot. This ensures that we have all the details that are important to you and we are not missing anything. Another tip is to include details from your wedding like, loose flowers, lace, ribbon, or any other items that fit the theme of your wedding. Don’t be afraid to include table decorations from the reception. This will help create consistency in your detail photos throughout the wedding.

MATCHING BRIDESMAID OUTFITS

Not only is this a sweet gift for your bridesmaids, but it’s also a great way to have everyone coordinate in the getting ready photos. We love taking shots of the bridesmaids around the bride celebrating her special day. It makes for fun memories and stunning photos for your wedding album.
