Katie and Antonio were married at the Signature Club of Lansdowne in Lexington, Kentucky. Their wedding was on a chilly January day. Kate looked gorgeous in lace ballgown wedding dress. She also wore a family heirloom cloak to stay warm and a long cathedral veil. Her bridesmaids wore long mismatched forest green dresses. Katie made all of the bouquets herself with her mom. They were made using handmade felt flowers (roses and anemones), wooden flowers (dogwood blooms and dahlias), silk greenery/pine boughs, pine cones, sprigs of cotton, dried baby’s breath, and peacock feathers. To stay warm, the ladies also wore grey fur shawls. Antonio looked dapper in his forest green velvet jacket that was made by Katie’s mother. His groomsmen wore classic black tuxes, and boutineer’s also made by Katie. Antonio and Katie shared a sweet first look in front of the Signature Club. Antonio took in every little detail Katie had picked out for him. Even though it was it a little chilly, they were both glowing and cuddled up to stay warm. Their ceremony was outside on the back patio. Guests cuddled up in blankets and with hand warmers as Katie and Antonio said, “I do.” Afterward, everyone headed inside to a beautiful winter wonderland themed ballroom. The tables were dressed in white tablecloths and decorated with lanterns, woodland animals, and forest green accents. Each guest received a carved keepsake. Everyone danced the night away, ranging from a beautiful choreographed ballroom style to fun festive group dances. During the evening, it started to snow. We snuck Antonio and Kate away for some romantic snowy photos to celebrate their special day. We have loved getting to know Katie and Antonio this past year. It has been such an honor to tell their love story. We still love Antonio’s proposal to Katie.
Antonio and Katie were heading for a fancy date night: an evening where they both dressed up and ate out at a fancy restaurant. These date nights happened about once a month, funds permitting. The night in question was meant to celebrate the last show of A Christmas Carol (Antonio played Bob Cratchit), and they had planned on eating at one of the newer restaurants in Five Points. Katie was a little surprised when Antonio said they needed to take a quick detour before dinner, but figured he needed something from the Physics building as he headed downtown. It wasn’t until they had parked the car in an unfamiliar parking deck and walked halfway to their destination that Katie realized Antonio was taking them to the same library of their first date. Since finals had ended the previous week, the quad was completely deserted. With the sun setting in the background, Antonio got down on one knee, and before he could officially ask the question, Katie said, “yes!”. They celebrated that night by eating dinner at LRG Provisions and taking a tour of the Christmas lights at Bear Hollow Zoo. We are so excited for Katie and Antonio! Their wedding was such a perfect day and wish them so much love, happiness, and adventure.
