Margaret and Sam’s adventurous fall engagement session was on the Auxier Ridge hiking trail in the Red River Gorge. It is one of our favorite hikes in the Gorge, and it just so happened to be a peak fall color day! The trees were full of breathtaking colors. From the forest to the overlooks, every scene looked like it was out of a painting. We had so much fun hiking with Margaret and Sam getting to know them and hearing all about their love story.
Margaret and Sam met on a dating app after both of their good friends told them to give it a try. Thankfully they did! It was fortunate when Margaret decided to check the app. If she had been swiping at home, Sam would have been outside of her 10-mile range. Fortunately for him, she was swiping at work, which was only 2 miles from where Sam lived. For their first date, they went to an ax-throwing place. Unfortunately, they didn’t realize that they needed to make a reservation since it was so busy. Instead, they improvised and walked across the street to Goodwood brewing. They had a drink at the bar and talked for hours until the bar closed. Margaret and Sam had an instant connection and didn’t want to stop talking. There was a huge red flag on the first date, though. The Lord of the Rings was on the TV at the bar, and Margaret admitted to never having seen it! Sam almost walked out….. but made an exception since their date was so perfect. Together they love to go hiking, biking, walk at the park, travel to different cities, cheer for the Louisville City soccer team, play with their two cats, cook together, and find the best local food.
Sam knew he wanted to ask Margaret to marry him. So he talked to his sister Ann-Lucas and asked her opinion on rings. He found the perfect ring with his close cousin Kelsey at a jewelry store. Sam then took the ring to Margaret’s parent’s house to ask for their blessing. Sam couldn’t wait to propose. So two days after he received the ring, he took Margaret on a date to their favorite place, Gravely Brewing, for drinks. They spent the afternoon talking on the patio overlooking the city skyline. He had planned to propose there, but they ran into Margaret’s friend Sarah. Marget asked her to join them, so Sam put his plan on hold. Afterward, Sam took Margaret to dinner. When they got home, Sam popped the question. Margaret could hardly answer over all of the happy tears. We are so excited that these two found each other. We can’t wait to celebrate with them next summer. Stay tuned for their wedding day love story!
