Hello friends we are Kevin and Anna, a Lexington, Kentucky-based husband and wife wedding photography team.

WELCOME TO OUR BLOG

Our story began at a local rock climbing gym, where we met and quickly fell for each other. Our love for rock climbing, hiking & the great outdoors made us a perfect match.

Our wedding took place in 2012 at Lost River Cave in Bowling Green, Kentucky. We cherish our wedding photos and all of the amazing moments that our photographer captured for us. Our passion is to do the same for you. We understand the magnitude and importance of capturing your wedding day because it only happens once.

Bellarmine University and Big Rock Park Engagement Session in Louisville, KY

Betsy and Deshon’s engagement session was so much fun! Not only because they are both so sweet but also because Betsy is Kevin’s cousin. We traveled to Louisville to celebrate their engagement with them. We started off at Big Rock Park. The Park has beautiful views with a creek, cliff walls, and hanging ivy. Next, They took us back to where it all began at Bellarmine Univerity. This is where they first met and attended college together. We visited some of their familiar spots including the famous chapel, track and other areas around campus. We had a great time talking about wedding planning and hearing all about their sweet love story.

Betsy and Deshon met on the Bellarmine Track Team in 2010. Betsy had joined the track team in March during her freshman year. It was just in time for the outdoor season. Deshon was a seasoned junior veteran at the time and knew the rules of the bus and how important it was to get on first. When Betsy showed up to the bus there was only one seat available in the back across from Deshon. She had brought a pillow and headphones looking forward to a relaxing bus ride but Deshon had other plans. He saw this blonde beauty and just had to get to know her. Deshon leaned across that aisle and talked from the beginning to the end of that bus ride with his big ear-to-ear grin, witty humor, and gregarious personality, Betsy had no choice but to be his friend.

Fast forward a couple years and the two were finally becoming great friends between studying for exercise science classes (well Betsy mostly studied while Deshon “rested his eyes”), training in the weight room for basketball and track, watching Finding Nemo over and over in the dorms (because Betsy has problems staying awake during movies and shows and had to restart the movie every time), to the nights out on the town on Bardstown Road, they were living up the college years with a lot of fun times and memories. They finally started dating Betsy’s senior year and dated for a few months before they split paths to move on to different stages of life after both graduating from Bellarmine.

In 2013, Betsy moved to Lexington to start the Physical Therapy Program at UK. Deshon stayed behind in Louisville working for Ford at the time. After about a year and a half Deshon “inconveniently” got transferred to work at the Ford dealership in Lexington. The two had dated other people but were both single at the time Deshon moved to Lexington. They reconnected over good food of course and realized how special of a bond they truly shared. Deshon asked Betsy to be his girlfriend in June of 2015 with roses and a pair of diamond earrings. That set the tone that both of them knew they had grown up a bit since the college days and this relationship was the real deal.

Over the past 4 years the two have enjoyed traveling together, watching and attending sporting events (even though they are divided UK/UL fans and are still working on cheering on the other’s favorite team but they definitely agree on cheering for Bellarmine), spending time with friends and family and enjoying this crazy little thing called life together. Betsy graduated PT school and moved back to Louisville for a job so the two could be closer while Deshon started a new career in commercial real estate and has been actively involved on the Board of Overseers with Bellarmine.

Deshon knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Betsy. So he decided to propose on the beach in Destin, Florida. They drove down for a long weekend with Betsy’s parents, aunt, and cousin in their condo. On the second day, they were there relaxing by the pool and Betsy’s Mom mentioned that they were going to take some family photos on the beach that evening before dinner. Betsy thought it was a little fishy because they never get family photos done on the beach and because their whole family wasn’t there. So using her investigative skills Betsy interrogated Deshon about why her mom would do that and if he had anything to do with it. When they got to the beach the photographer did a great job having them act like it was a romantic photo shoot for Betsy’s parents. Betsy started to relax thinking that Deshon wasn’t going to propose after all. Then the photographer started to take some photos of Betsy and Deshon. She had them stand with their back to each other, walk three feet away and then back to each other with their eyes closed. When Betsy ran into Deshon she opened her eyes to see Deshon down on one knee with a beautiful ring. Deshon asked Betsy to marry her and she, of course, said yes! Deshon had been planning the proposal for weeks and knew he wanted Betsy’s parents to be there. It was the most perfect proposal! The rest of the night they went out to eat and celebrate. Deshon was finally able to show his true emotions after trying to hide the surprise all day! Their faces were hurting from smiling so much the rest of the day. We are so excited to celebrate with Betsy and Deshon at their wedding this summer in Louisville at the Olmsted!
