Early Spring Engagement Session at Waveland in Lexington, KY

Chelsea and Ryan’s engagement session was at Waveland State Historic Site in Lexington, Kentucky. This beautiful old historic house sits on a small farm and has so much character. We loved getting to know Chelsea, Ryan, and their sweet pups. Dexter and Sawyer were both rescued by Chelsea and Ryan. Dexter had the important job of balancing the ring on his nose while Sawyer had fun exploring the pond.  We had so much fun exploring the grounds and hearing all about their love story.

They both grew up in Wisconsin and were high school sweethearts! Chelsea and Ryan didn’t hit it off right from the start. Ryan and one of Chelsea’s friends had been in a car accident so Chelsea wasn’t so sure about Ryan. They first met when they were in Spanish class. Chelsea was a sophomore and Ryan was a junior. They were paired together for half the semester for their class and eventually became friends. A little over a year later they had another class together and started to become more than friends. Their first official date was on New Year’s Eve of 2013. Ryan took Chelsea to dinner and a movie. They ate at a restaurant in the Wisconsin Dells called Mac’s, which is a gourmet Mac and cheese place. They ended up skipping the movie and went bowling instead. Ryan won the game and then afterward they decided to cuddle and watch the ball drop at Chelsea’s house. They dated through high school and even moved to Kentucky together to attend the University of Kentucky.

In the middle of November, Chelsea and Ryan went for a walk at Centennial Park in Wilmore, Kentucky with their sweet dogs Dexter and Sawyer. Their friends Adam and Elisabeth joined them with their two dogs, Chance, and Wyatt. The dogs had so much fun playing. After wrangling the muddy dogs and chasing them for about 20 minutes they started to finish walking the loop around the park. When they came to a tree filled with yellow leaves on the ground Ryan pulled Chelsea underneath. Chelsea didn’t understand why they had stopped. When Ryan went to grab her hands she gave him the leash thinking it was what he wanted. As she went to walk away Ryan pulled her back and got down on one knee. Chelsea was so shocked and said, “Ok, this isn’t funny. Get up, stop messing around.” He pulled the ring out and she realized he wasn’t kidding. Of course, she said Yes! We can’t wait to celebrate with Chelsea and Ryan on their wedding at Moonlight Fields later this year. Be sure to check back to see the rest of their love story unfold.
