Karissa and Joe were married on a beautiful and sunny fall day in Lexington, Kentucky. Their love for fall was shown through all of the beautiful details they chose for their special day. Karissa looked absolutely beautiful in her lace dress. Her girls were dressed in long purple dresses. Their bouquets were filled with red roses, mini green mums and an assortment of purple, orange, and yellow flowers. Joe looked dapper in his classic black and white suit. His guys also wore black suits but with purple ties. After Karissa and Joe shared a private moment for their first look we headed downtown to Gratz Park to get some fun and romantic portraits before the ceremony. We love all the architecture in downtown Lexington with the multicolored historic houses. Their wedding ceremony was held at Meadowthorpe Presbyterian Church and their reception followed at Spring Valley Golf Club. The tables were filled with so many fun fall details from pumpkins to lanterns. We especially loved the cookies that Karissa made and decorated herself. They were not only stunning but absolutely delicious. At sunset, we had the most beautiful golden light to celebrate their wedding day.
Karissa and Joe met while they were working together at Karissa’s first job just after she had graduated from PTA school. One of Karissa’s coworkers told her that she should start dating Joe and from that point forward she couldn’t stop thinking about him. The only problem was that she wasn’t sure if he liked her. Little did she know that Joe shared the same feelings. As they started talking and getting to know each other, Joe found out that Karissa loved decorating for the holidays. Joe realized that this was his chance and so he told Karissa that he didn’t have any holiday decorations or pictures on the wall in his new house. So he asked her if they could go shopping together and pick out some things to decorate his house. Their first date was to the At Home store so that Karissa could help Joe pick out some decorations. After their visit to the store, they also decided to go on a hike at Raven Run a local nature preserve. Who knew that down the road Joe would actually propose to Karissa at Raven Run as well.
We have loved getting to know Karissa and Joe over the last year. They are both so sweet and we felt honored that they chose us to capture their special day. We wish them many years of love, happiness, and adventure. Make sure to visit the bottom of the blog to see a list of the wedding vendors that helped make their day so special.
