Spring Engagement Session at Gratz Park and the Arboretum in Lexington, KY

Katie and Nick’s sunrise engagement session started at Gratz Park in downtown Lexington, Kentucky on a beautiful spring morning. Gratz Park is known for it’s historic, charming, and colorful houses. We had so much fun exploring this beautiful park. We met Katie several years ago when she was in her sister Emily’s wedding on New Year’s Eve. We were so excited when she wanted us to capture her special day. It was so great to get to meet Nick. We could see right away just how special these two are for each other. Next, we headed to University of Kentucky’s Arboretum. The Arboretum is a large garden filled with flowering trees and tulips. It made for the perfect spot to celebrate their engagement.

Katie and Nick met in chemistry class while they were both attending the University of Notre Dame. They were told to form study groups on the first day of class. So a mutual friend added them both to her group for the semester. Their first date was out to dinner and to see a comedy show on campus. As their relationship grew Nick knew he wanted to make Katie forever his. He decided to propose to Katie at Notre Dame at all of the places that are special to both of them. At each place there was a poem and a bouquet of flowers waiting for her. The final stop was one of Katie’s favorite places on campus. Nick proposed and asked Katie if she would marry him. Of course, she said yes! Props to Nick for such a sweet and thoughtful proposal. We can’t wait to capture Katie and Nick’s wedding day in Cincinnati, Ohio! Be sure to check back in September to see the rest of their love story unfold.
