Epic Surprise Engagement Proposal on Auxier Ridge in the Red River Gorge in Kentucky

When Isaiah called us and told us that he planned to propose to his longtime girlfriend Jackie in the Red River Gorge we were so excited. Isaiah and Jackie were planning on vacationing in the Red River Gorge in September. He decided that Auxier Ridge would be the perfect place to pop the question. This ridgeline has one of the most breathtaking views in the Red River Gorge. You can see the Daniel Boon National forest stretch for miles as well as many unique rock formations and ridgelines. The plan was for Isaiah and Jackie to hike the trail for sunset which averages about four miles round trip. The day of the proposal Isaiah took Jackie to Lexington to visit the Kentucky Horse Park and the mall. Jackie wore a cute dress which played right into Isaiah’s plan perfectly. He told her that he wanted to do a special hike for sunset. So after a wonderful day in Lexington, they drove back to the gorge.

We hiked ahead of Isaiah and Jackie to make sure to we were hidden and ready for the perfect moment. When we arrived at Auxier Ridge we marked a path with sticks and purple wildflowers hoping that Jackie wouldn’t find it too suspicious. We marked the perfect spot for Isaiah to propose and hid in the bushes. As we waited we finally heard the sound of people talking. We peeked out of the bushes and saw that it was them. Ready to spring into action at any moment Isaiah first had to get Jackie into the perfect spot for the photos. Jackie was admiring the view and had Isaiah take several pictures of her with the gorgeous view. Isaiah pulled Jackie over to the proposal spot where she was a little nervous about being close to the edge. She tried to walk away from the edge when Isaiah asked Jackie to take a selfie. As she tried to walk away again Isaiah grabbed her hand and got down on one knee. We quickly snuck out of the bushes and captured this amazing moment. Jackie was shocked and of course said yes! To celebrate their engagement we spent the evening with them taking photos, hiking and eating at the famous Miguel’s Pizza. It was the perfect night and we were so blessed to have been able to capture this special moment in their lives.

Their love story started while they were both attending Indiana State University. During their freshman year on Halloween weekend, her friend Sammy asked if she wanted to go to a football game with a guy she had just met. Jackie said sure and together they met up with this guy and his friend to talk about plans for the game. Isaiah saw Jackie and thought she was cute. That night they all planned to go to the game together with other friends. There wasn’t enough room in the car so Jackie ended up sitting on Isaiah’s lap on the drive to the game. They ended up spending the whole weekend hanging out together and have been together ever since.
