Sunrise Engagement Photos at the University of Kentucky Arboretum

Rob and Nicole’s engagement session was at the beautiful University of Kentucky Arboretum in Lexington, Kentucky. The arboretum is filled with beautiful landscapes from gardens to forests. Walking trails wind through this gorgeous landscape creating a perfect place to take photos. For their session, we got up for sunrise and were pleasantly surprised by the fog that filled the garden. We had so much fun walking and getting to know Rob and Nicole and hearing all about their love story. Nicole and Rob met years before they started officially dating in college. Nicole saw Rob and thought he was cute. One day they ran into each other at the Toasted Barrel in downtown Lexington, KY. Nicole saw him and told her friend who she was with, “that’s him.” Her friend immediately gave Nicole a nudge making Nicole fall right in front of Rob. Rob looked at Nicole and said, “Nicole?” They started hanging out all the time and eventually started dating. One of their favorite dates was hiking in the Red River Gorge to see Auxier Ridge which is also one of our favorite trails. Rob wanted to free climb a little which terrified Nicole but she did it anyway. Terrified she climbed to the top to see the amazing view.

They spent July 4th weekend at Nicole’s family lake house on Lake Michigan with her family and friends. Nicole loves her dog Bear so much. Rob knew this and wanted to make Bear a part of the special moment. He got a dog tag and engraved on it the words “Will you marry me?” and hung it on Bear’s collar while Nicole was in another room. Rob brought Bear into the room and mentioned that he thought something was wrong with Bear’s collar. As she went to look down at the collar Rob got down on one knee and asked Nicole to marry him. These two college sweethearts are getting married this spring at Springhouse Gardens in Nicholasville, Kentucky. We couldn’t be more excited to capture their special day.
