Romantic Sunset Engagement Session at Shaker Village in Harrodsburg, Kentucky

Bethany and Mike’s sunset engagement session was at the gorgeous Shaker Village in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. We started off their session by hiking to a beautiful waterfall and creek. We had so much fun talking with Bethany and Mike and getting to know them before their special day. They are both so kind and genuine and made us feel like good friends right away. As the sun started to set we headed out to the rolling hills to catch the beautiful light glowing through the wildflowers. It was such a magical sunset and Bethany and Mike were literally glowing with the love for each other. We are so excited for their wedding this summer!

Bethay and Mike met their freshman year at the University of Michigan. They were introduced by a mutual friend in Mike’s fraternity house but it wasn’t until the second half of their sophomore year that they started to get to know each other. Mike had a crush on Bethany and would often run into her. He started to attend the fitness class that Bethany taught and would walk her home after her nightly classes. Each time they spent longer and longer talking on the front porch of Bethany’s house. Bethany had an interest in photography so Mike invited her to come over and look at his photos. Bethany asked Mike to her sorority’s formal dance and by that time they were officially a couple. Mike finally asked Bethany as his girlfriend when he came to visit Bethany over the summer while she was at her parent’s house in Kentucky.

Bethany and Mike had been dating long distance when Mike decided to drive up for a weekend to see Bethany. After mass on Sunday, they went to the Cranbrook Botanical Gardens. It is a place that they both loved to take walks and do photo shoots. The walked to a small pond surrounded by trees. They walked onto a small island in the middle of the pond where Bethany thought Mike was going to take some pictures of her looking over the water. When he asked her to turn around Mike was down on one knee with an open ring box in his hand. Bethany stood there in shock for a few seconds and said, “Yes!”
