Romantic Hike to a Waterfall at Shaker Village in Harrodsburg, KY

Kristen and Kyle’s engagement session was at Shaker Village in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. We took them on a hike to one of our favorite places on the Shaker Village grounds. After hiking through meadows and the forest you come to a breathtaking waterfall. The recent rainfall caused the waterfall to be very powerful and the most beautiful we had ever seen it. What better way to take some romantic portraits in a waterfall then to first ditch the shoes. We had so much fun walking through the water and capturing so many sweet moments between Kristen and Kyle along the way. As we headed out of the forest we came upon some beautiful wildflowers along the rolling hills of Shaker Village. Kristen and Kyle are two of the sweetest people we have ever met and we could not be more excited for their wedding in September.

Kyle and Kristen grew up in the same town and also were raised at the same church in Versailles, Kentucky. These two high school sweethearts officially met in biology class and became friends. Kyle asked Kristen to his senior prom which led to their 9-year journey of love, laughter, smiles, and kisses. For their first date, Kyle and Kristen went fishing. Through their 9 years of dating, they had to spend several years dating long distance while Kyle went to Ohio Technical College to be a diesel mechanic.

After he graduated he cheered Kristen on while she went to EKU for her bachelor’s in Health Service Administration. It’s always been a family tradition for everyone in Kristen’s family to get a Christmas stocking. Kristen had no idea that Kyle had already asked her dad’s permission for her hand in marriage and when no one was looking he slipped an engagement ring into the bottom of her stocking. When she pulled out the box she started crying and Kyle proposed in front of her family. Kyle was able to surprise everyone making it so special to Kristen.
