SoundWave Mobile Disc Jockey – Questions And Answers From The DJ

We are so excited to introduce you to Larry Lee the owner of SoundWave Mobile Disc Jockey. He has been making bride’s dreams come true for the past 20 years. Growing up Larry was always around music. His father was the lead guitar player in a successful band called SoundWave. While attending EKU, Larry worked part-time as a cook at a popular dance club called O’riely’s. One night the DJ didn’t show up and so Larry jumped in and took over for the night. He made such an impression that he became the main DJ at the dance club from that night on. His first time DJing at a wedding reception was for one of his friends. Larry started off using his dad’s old speakers and equipment. He had no idea that it would be the start of SoundWave Mobile Disc Jockey. Six years later Larry’s brother Steven joined the business. Steven was also a lead vocalist and guitarist for many different bands.

SoundWave Mobile Disk Jockey specializes in wedding receptions and providing sound for outdoor ceremonies. They also coordinate rehearsals, the day of coordinating and event planning. SoundWave Mobile Disk Jockey also provides custom monograms and up-lights to make the dance floor and reception look beautiful. These brothers not only know how to keep the party going but also have a pure joy about what they do. Larry and Steven truly take care of their couple’s needs from making sure the timeline stays on schedule to organizing reception events. As photographers, we truly appreciate how amazing they are to work with!

WHAT BRIDES NEED TO KNOW ABOUT OUTDOOR CEREMONY MUSIC AND SOUND

Your guests have traveled from all over and may have devoted the entire day or weekend to your wedding. Make sure they can hear the ceremony. A lapel microphone for the groom and officiant along with a wireless handheld mic for songs or special readings is crucial. If you are having your wedding ceremony outdoors make sure that you have access to reliable electricity or a generator. This is a minor detail that some people forget but can cause a lot of issues during your ceremony. By just simply planning ahead you will be able to avoid any issues and no one wants to be stressed out with that on the wedding day.

HOW SHOULD BRIDES CHOOSE THEIR CEREMONY MUSIC?

The fun thing about a wedding is that you can be yourself. So you can do traditional processional songs such as Canon D or you could be non-traditional and choose a romantic modern song such as “A Thousand Years” by Cristina Perri. Both are beautiful and can be done differently based on the instruments used in the song to fit the theme of your wedding. It’s always fun when the couple walks out to a song that perfectly describes them and their personalities.

WHAT ARE SOME POPULAR CEREMONY SONGS USED?

Processional:

-Here Comes The Bride

-Canon D

-A Thousand Years by Christina Perri

-Marry Me by Train

-Somewhere Over The Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole

Recessional:

-Wedding March by Mendelssohn

-Signed, Sealed, Delivered by Stevie Wonder

-I Do by Colbie Caillat

-All You Need is Love by The Beatles

-You Are The Best Thing by Ray Lamontagne

HOW DO YOU KEEP A RECEPTION EXCITING AND KEEP THE GUESTS FROM LEAVING?

Cocktail and dinner music does not have to be slow or just instrumental. Keep your guests in the mood to celebrate. It is important to have the events spaced out so that your guests stay to see all the events. If you do them all at the beginning some people may leave. The same goes for the end if you do them too late. Also, have good clean music that is fun for all ages. You have to think about your guests and what they like. If you play songs they have never heard of before people may not want to get out on the dancefloor. So make sure to choose different genres for guests of all ages.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE MOST POPULAR FIRST DANCE SONGS?

-Everything by Michael Bublé
