Lost River Cave a Gorgeous Outdoor Wedding Venue in Bowling Green, KY

Lost River Cave is a place that is near and dear to our hearts because it is where we got married back in October of 2012. This place is literally a hidden jewel in the heart of Bowling Green, KY. When we were searching for an outdoor wedding venue we quickly fell in love with Lost River Cave. This place had everything that we wanted and even more than we could have imagined for our wedding day. This wedding venue is spectacular and perfect for locals or anyone looking for an amazing destination wedding location.

Lost River cave has a long history. In the last 200 years, Lost River Cave has been used as a nightclub, a camp for civil war soldiers and as a site for mills. It also spans back thousands of years ago with evidence of Indian arrowheads and other artifacts discovered by archaeologists. This indicates that prehistoric nomadic Indian tribes used the cave as a source of shelter and water. In the 1930’s the cave was one of the only nightclubs in America to have air conditioning since it was provided naturally from the cave.

Your guests will have a truly unforgettable experience at your wedding. As your guests walk down to the river for your ceremony they will cross a large rustic bridge that leads into the forest. Once they round the corner they will reach the riverwalk. The riverwalk hosts a romantic outdoor ceremony site nestled under a canopy of trees along a bright blue river. The reception space is in the actual mouth of the cave and is beautifully lit by a chandelier and drapery. It is an experience that feels like a fairytale. With large cave walls and the original bar and bandstand, your guests will either feel like they have gone back in time or are in a romantic place far away.

Lost River Cave is a non-profit organization. Their mission is to protect, preserve and promote Lost River Cave. Your rental fees go to supporting the conservation of Lost River Cave allowing people to enjoy themselves in nature. You can begin setting up your special day at 8:00 am and start your wedding at 6:30 pm. Lost River Cave will provide you with two event golf carts to drive your guests down to the ceremony and reception space. You can also rent the River Birch Room if you want to get ready for your big day at Lost River Cave. The room offers plenty of space with a kitchenette and private restrooms. This place is the perfect outdoor wedding venue because you can always have your ceremony inside the cave in case it rains. That way you get to have your wedding outside regardless of the weather.
